IPS vs TN Panel Monitors
Simple way to determine which monitor to get for gaming. The monitor that you choose will be highly preference in a perfect world you will just buy both and have 1 for visual gaming and 1 for competition gaming. If you have been searching for monitors than you know that the 2 types of popular panel in the monitor are currently IPS and TN panels. The biggest difference between the 2 and easiest way to think about it is that IPS panels are for visual gaming and TN Panels are for competitive gaming due to its fast refresh rates. If you are a visual gamer meaning that you play games for the graphics and want the best graphics and visual you can get and do not do much competitive gaming the IPS panel will hands down be the better monitor for you. A TN Panel is only good for its refresh rate which for a professional gamer could be the difference in getting the shot off before their opponent. No amount of refresh rate will make you a better gamer. To truly appericiate TN panels with high refresh rates you also need a computer rig that can consistently run at those FPS. After doing my own research I have come to the conclusion that IPS Panels are best suited for people that just want a visually appealing game experience and TN Panels are for hardcore/esports type professionals gamers that need every competitive advantage they can get. The TN Panels will typically have lower latency at about 1-2ms and higher refresh rates from 144-240hz+, and the panel will usually have a latency in the range of 4-5ms as of writing this post, and a refresh rate at around 120hz+. As monitor technology evolve we will have better and faster monitors that can provide both a fast response and beautiful visuals.
